Weighbatch was established in 1987 to design and manufacture a gravimetric throughput control system for co-extrusion blown film lines. With extensive agricultural and horticultural exports, New Zealand always has been at the leading edge of multi-layer barrier film manufacture which motivated Weighbatch to develop sophisticated control systems for co-extrusion.
Before long a continuous blender option was added to the controller followed by vacuum loaders. This was all operated by a DOS based computer and dramatically simplified the running of both co-ex and mono film lines.
However these DOS systems were customised for each installation and were complex to install and maintain. With the maturing of the plastics ancillary equipment market, Weighbatch has changed the design focus to make more stand alone intelligent products. For straight forward applications these are just “plug-and-go”. For more complex applications the sophistication comes from combining these stand alone products with the supervisory level software which makes it all act as a single control system.
Having initially developed solutions for the blown film industry Weighbatch have then gone on to apply their technology in other plastics processing industries and now have solutions for the in the following areas;
Wire & Cable Insulation and Sheathing
